Elk Hides

Cow elk hide Number 1 quality:
$349.00
This hide is long winter furred. This is a great throw skin to have on the back of a sofa, on top of a computer desk.
Elk stands for stamina, and false attraction it is a great hide to use for ceremony as many people can sit on it when buffalo hides are very expensive.
Female Idaho elk measurements are:61" long by 59" wide thats roughly 5ft by 5ft. This is freshly tanned bottom is white I picked it up from the tannery on March 26, 2012. This is a Idaho Elk. She was harvested in the fall of 11. EVERY PART of this animal was used, she was harvested for her meat what we didn't eat we ground up for dog food, sinew for sewing and even her hooves for hide a type of hide glue. Her hide was sent to the tannery to make sure it didn't go to waste. I do not support trophy hunting. A female elk does not grow antlers rest assured she was harvested for her meat and not antler size.
This hide would be great for the den or even for arts and crafts this hide does have a tail. Please check out my other items all real and not plastic or resin. This is brand new NOT a secondary item it comes from a smoke free home and is pure white on the bottom it is so fresh. I am a licensed professional here in the state of Idaho I fleshed salted and tanned this animal. Please when purchasing consider the hours spent to hunt the animal, purchasing price of the hide from the hunter, the time and hours fleshing salting and tanning this is NOT a product of China.
Item will come with certificate of authenticity stating my tribal enrollment information. A portion of all sales goes home to help my people! I give back to my tribe. I am deer clan :)
I am an enrolled native american there are special songs and ceremonies done for this animal. Some are performed as I skin the animal and then I perform the ceremonies I was taught later that evening when the sun sets as it is then spirit hour. The liver of this animal is offered to the great spirit. Then I stretch and salt the hide. They are sent to a tannery where the owners have native blood but are not enrolled. When they return the hide to me less than 2 weeks later I smudge them down with sage, sweetgrass, tobacco and native herbs and we place out spirit plates for each animal. Then the hide is brushed and cleaned and oiled. The native american arts and craft act also states that if a tribal member makes something out of a tin can it is still native made even if it is not traditional. The meat is harvested and treated in a sacred manner and the hide is blessed and purified in the native way. I am enrolled there for this item is native made. If you prefer a brain tanned Hide I can do that as well but they are more expensive. As I complete the hide process and place the oils on the hide they only soak it in a chemical I am not allowed in my zoning on my household property and they live out of city limits or I would be doing that as well BUT I can't break the law. As such with all the work I do start to finish from when the animal comes into my shop this item is native made.
